Land Regeneration

Appledore is absolutely committed to the rebirth of disused land and buildings, in fact this specialist niche homebuilder has a 100 percent track record of developing only brownfield sites. By designing each development to reflect its architectural and historical surroundings, Appledore adds value to both the environment and community.

Building on brownfield sites such as disused factories, petrol garages and schools, which would otherwise face further disrepair or demolition, has been the foundation of Appledore builds. Successfully breathing new life into old buildings, whilst retaining character and charm has earned the company an excellent reputation for restoration and conversation.

Bourne Place is a development of twenty homes set in in the delightful village of Hildenborough, Kent, on the site of a former school and children’s home.  Four luxurious apartments were created by converting the main school building, while sixteen prestigious new properties were built in place of the derelict ancillary structures.

Working with the community and authorities

Through consultation with neighbouring residents, authorities and its established partners, Appledore ensures that it provides  desirable and appropriate  homes for the local community.

Oast Place in Wadhurst, East Sussex is an example of Appledore’s success in this area. A small, exclusive collection of just four new mews-style homes in the grounds of an original Oast, which Appledore also lovingly restored. The village dates back to 1253 so mass-produced new build homes simply were not an option for either Appledore or the local Council. Every home was individually designed to blend cleverly with its location, and to harmonise with the area and enhance the community.

Appledore is also considerate to the environment, before, during and after its time on-site. This includes re-using as much demolition material as possible, maintaining or replacing planting, road cleaning and pollution control.
