RETIRED ARCHITECT SELECTS APPLEDORE OAST HOUSE AS NEW HOME

What better compliment could a developer receive than an architect purchasing one of its exclusive new homes?

That is exactly the case for award-winning housebuilder, Appledore Developments who has recently sold The Oast House, one of its stunning homes at Oast Place in Wadhurst, East Sussex , to a renowned architect.

Julian Ryder-Richardson, a former architect, explains the reasons for selecting his new luxury home: "Apart from being a remarkable and unusual property, The Oast House is situated exactly where I'd hoped to settle; Wadhurst. I lived in the village more than 40 years ago and felt it was time to return. I also have family living close by so it really is perfect.'

When questioned as to why he didn't want to build his own dream home, Julian replied: "The Oast House enjoys a site in a good position, which is often very hard to come by and Appledore Developments has given a great deal of consideration in sympathetically restoring what was a former industrial building. The foot-print of the existing building has not been exceeded and careful attention to detail has been paid to altering the floor level on the first floor, as well as meticulously recreating the white cowl which, of course, was part of the function of an oast house."

He continues: "The house is very well specified and has an imaginative layout, which suits my needs exactly. I have found Appledore staff to be very friendly and efficient throughout my purchase and I look forward to settling into my new home and enjoying the range of amenities Wadhurst has to offer."

Yvette Brotherton, Sales and Marketing Director for Appledore Developments, comments: "We are delighted that Mr Ryder-Richardson is so happy with The Oast House; it really will make a wonderful home for many years to come. Oast Place enjoys an excellent location in this quaint village, which has a well-established community made up of a selection of several local shops, pubs, restaurants and sporting facilities."

Only one luxury home now remains at Oast Place , a three bedroom cottage priced at £375,000. The property comprises a spacious living room and stunning kitchen, both of which open out to a delightful conservatory. The first floor comprises a master bedroom with en-suite, bedroom two and family bathroom. From here, a staircase rises to a third bedroom and integral storage space.

This elegant home is highly specified and features a cottage-style kitchen with rustic character oak furniture and granite work surfaces. There is also a full range of integrated stainless steel appliances to include an oven and hob, an extractor hood, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, all from AEG .

Luxurious sanitaryware has been selected for the bathrooms complete with complementing fixtures and fittings.
