THE SIMPLE THINGS IN LIFE ARE OFTEN OVERLOOKED

Is it arguably something obvious that has always been overlooked by housebuilders, but why when people get dressed and undressed in their bedrooms, do they then take all of the dirty washing downstairs, complain about the vibrations of the washing machine over dinner and then have to take them upstairs again for ironing? One of life’s mysteries maybe, but award-winning housebuilder Appledore Developments Ltd has introduced laundry rooms to the first floor of the houses at its Webb’s Orchard development in Matfield in an attempt to introduce ‘common sense’ design.

Yvette Brotherton, Sales & Marketing Director for Appledore, explains: “It has always been a bug bear of mine, lugging washing downstairs, just to take it back again. By providing separate laundry rooms off the landing with doors to close out any noise, we see it as a rare, yet simple answer.”

She continues: “The three and four bedroom homes at Webb’s Orchard all benefit from this feature and the feedback has been excellent. I have certainly not seen it done before and it is particularly useful, as it saves both time and energy and is away from the living area of the home.”

Laundry rooms are by no means the only benefit at Webb’s Orchard, which also includes one and two bedroom apartments. These traditionally designed homes are situated within a semi-rural location and enjoy far reaching views over fruit fields and the village itself.

The specification is peerless with fitted kitchens and a range of AEG appliances to include an oven, hob, extractor hood, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. The laundry rooms have units that match the kitchen and ceramic floor tiling, as well as space for washing appliances, so leaving more cupboard space in the kitchen.

The bathrooms have pristine white sanitaryware with chrome fittings and heated towel rails for added comfort.

Prices for the houses start from £350,000, whilst the apartments are priced from £195,000. Homebuyers are invited to come and see the highly specified homes at the open weekend on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September from 10am till 4pm.
